What is a half-timbered masonry
Bituminous masonry is a specific type of masonry where the timber beam is visible from the outside and the rest of the wall, which is most often made of bricks, is plastered. In our country, it is not possible to encounter such types of construction too often. To a lesser extent, there are houses with half-timbered walls in western and northern Bohemia in the areas where the German minority was the majority of the population before the war. And in Germany, half-timbered masonry was the most used in Europe. The rise of half-timbered masonry dates back to the twelfth century, when the half-timbered buildings were replaced by traditional wooden houses .
